Why we give
One of my favorite descriptions of money is that it is "boots on the ground." In other words, money is action. That action might be as simple as keeping the doors open and the lights on where a local church finds its expression, or it might help to dig a well for fresh water on the other side of the world. And it lands anywhere in the middle to support foster kids, abuse shelters, and others in need.
Thus, we give to create and sustain action, starting at the most local focal point to which we are plugged in, where we directly rely on others and they rely on us, and proceeding outward from there as local expressions create global impact.
