Life with People.png

We are created as relational beings.  We are meant to be connected to others so that we find meaning, support, and experience love.  Because we crave this so much, we may cross boundaries to require it of people. People tend to control others, manipulate to get their way, or even abuse others when they don’t get what they want. And the worst part?...They don’t even realize what they are doing so it continues for years.  Jesus taught the greatest commandment is to love God and the second is to love others.  We will help you discover what that looks like and how to cultivate healthy relationships with family, friends, and coworkers.

Relationship Skills

Few of us are taught the skills necessary to cultivate healthy relationships.  You need help knowing what’s really loving, and what’s not.  Whether it’s marriage, parenting, or friendship, we help you learn the skills that will lead to a healthier relationship. Through small groups, sermons, seminars, and encouraging professional counseling, we support this area of your life.  Jesus is our model for how to love others well, and we integrate healthy practices from the academia of counseling/psychology.  These include:

  • Listen to understand, not just to reply

  • Practice healthy boundaries including saying no without guilt

  • Value people for who they are, not what they do

  • Be present with people mentally, not just physically

  • Connect with others through empathy, compassion, and understanding

  • Be your authentic self

  • Address conflict directly and without attacking

  • Allow room for disagreement without dismissal

  • Uncover resentment and clarify expectations

  • Elevate your relationship over being right

  • Build margin in your life so you have time for others
